Sandy the Staffie-cross finds a home:

Hi, my
name is Sandy; this is a picture of when I was very unhappy. I was thrown out of a vehicle and left in a noisy tunnel, too scared to move I crouched down as I had some kind of painful liquid poured over me, it burnt into my coat as it dripped down my back, some of the cars just drove around me in that tunnel, some stopped to look, but someone called the Police and they came and picked me up. |
I was taken back to the Police Station, they were very nice and I stayed behind the desk with a police lady, then a vet came out to help me, they said the liquid was some type of acid like battery acid.
I was taken to a Rescue in Kent, no one came forward to claim me, then I went on to the EDDR but thought I would just stay quiet and shy for a while, sometimes when you’re just a dog you get hurt by the humans, but these people were really nice. I stayed here for quite a while as I didn’t look very nice with all my scars, there are lots of Stafford crosses in rescues and a lot are younger than me, the longer I stayed in Rescue, overlooked, the harder it became, but one day my special people came, they are Sally and Steve and now we all live together. I have been on holiday with Sally and Steve, we all went on a houseboat, it was great, I go on long walks, they are everything to me and we all couldn’t be happier.
Sandy’s adopters write;
“He’s
such a character - tells us off if he does not get his walk at the same
time every day, tells us off if we talk on the phone when we first get
in - he is such a creature of habit - goes to bed if it gets late and
we are not going up at the usual time....We are taking him on a canal
boat holiday next month - just have to make sure he does not dive in!!

He
loves our new conservatory - quite often just goes in there for a quiet
sit down watching the birds....still loves playing football - although
tends to burst the ball after a few games. This hot weather is not great
for him but we had heavy rain Monday night and we went out and got drenched
- but both liked it as it was so much cooler! Sandy loves going out in
the car - he would be quite happy just going for a drive, getting out
is nice but he just likes the car - sometimes if its too hot or too wet
he just goes and stands by the car rather than walking off for his walk
....he eats like a horse....very keen on organic yoghurt - he can smell
it as soon as I open a pot.....” |
