Stewie - American Bulldog male - with EDDR

November Update - Stewie has now found a great new home in Sussex.

September 2008 - Home Wanted: (2-October- Now Reserved)

Stewie is a young American Bulldog male who is approx. 17 weeks of age, he is fully vaccinated, micro chipped, flea treated and wormed, he will need to be neutered once he is old enough and this is a condition of adoption.

Stewie

Currently in foster care in Sussex, Stewie has shown himself to be a fantastic all round pup. He plays well with the resident dogs and would love a home with an older bitch to help keep him out of trouble! He is crate trained and house-trained. He can be left for short periods and will settle happily until you return.

He is good with children however as he is expected to grow to be a big dog we would prefer a home with children over 8 who can handle a bouncy large puppy! He is responding well to training and knows the basic commands.

Stewie

Stewie will need a home with a reasonable sized garden with at least 6 foot fencing. He would need someone at home most of the time to keep him busy and out of trouble! He is not cat tested but we think he is most likely to chase them so a home without cats may be best. Stewie will grow to be a large dog likely to weigh at least 100lbs. We are ideally looking for someone with experience of American Bulldogs or other large breeds.

Stewie & friend

Potential homes MUST have researched the breed.

It is a condition of our rehoming agreement that Stewie must attend training classes. Stewie has the potential to become a fantastic dog and a real ambassador for his breed.

If you feel you are the right home for him please contact EDDR

All potential homes are visited and checked, adoption is subject to written agreement.

Update 28 July - Good News - Bow has found a lovely new home in Leeds!

Bow - approx. 18mth female, crossbreed:

Happy Bow
Bow is a delightful dog who has been rescued and taken in by the East Galway Animal Rescue (EGAR), Ireland’s only Bull Breed Rescue based in Southern Ireland. She arrived quiet and terrified but with some TLC has blossomed into a great little dog!

EGAR lost their long term premises earlier this year and are currently in the exhausting process of re-locating. They have had to reduce their number of animals whilst new premises with facilities for all their rescued animals, including many cruelty and neglect cases, are being organised. Without EGAR many dogs, especially bull breeds, simply have no where to go for help.

Bow is one of the EGAR dogs who has come over to the UK for re-homing and is currently in a foster home in Lancashire, she was originally named ‘Puislin’-but English folk had a hard time pronouncing the name!

She has been spayed, fully vaccinated, fully wormed and is booked to be ID Chipped.

Sleepy BowBow is a charming dog; she is full of character and lots of fun. She will make a fantastic companion.

Bow enjoys the company of other dogs, has lived in a foster home with two cats, horses and chickens, all of which she takes in her stride. She is happy to walk for miles with her ball, play games, curl up in your arms and fall asleep or squeeze in with the bigger doggies-as pictured!

Bow is around 18mths and has Staffie in her although she is quite miniature is size, she is compact and very cute indeed! She is easy going, travels well, is house trained, walks well on the lead and loves human company.

Bow developed a skin condition recently and lost some hair, the exact cause hasn’t been identified; it may have been an allergic reaction. She has received veterinary attention and went back for a veterinary check up on 8th July. There is new hair re-growth and Bow will continue with her tablets for another four weeks and have one more bath in two weeks time. The skin ‘rash’ has greatly improved and Bow doesn’t need to see the vets again unless there is any change, but this is obviously something a new adopter will need to monitor and take advice on from rescue.

All potential homes are vetted and visited, adoption is subject to written agreement with EGAR, full UK rescue back-up is provided

Happy DaysNew friend

Update January '08:

Bluebell has found a lovely new home. She is happily living with three other rescue dogs, pictured here with one of her new best friends who now never leaves her side!

Home Needed - December 2007 - Bluebell - American Bulldog bitch

Home NeededBluebell - American Bulldog bitch, (currently fostered in the south east)

Bluebell was taken in by EDDR from a scrap yard. She seems to have been passed around through various owners and was in poor condition. Following several weeks TLC, medication and assessment, Bluebell is now ready for a new home of her own.

Bluebell has been veterinary checked, wormed, de-flea'd, id chipped, vaccinated and spayed by EDDR. She is approximately five years of age, confident around people and thriving on human company. She is looking for a home with someone who has experience, Bluebell enjoys the company of other dogs and has been introduced to both male, female, small and larger dogs, she was very well behaved at the grooming parlour (she thinks baths are fantastic fun) where she became friends with a Greyhound male, she is full on with other dogs wanting to play-which isn't always appreciated by the other dog, but has been learning how to better communicate with the help of her doggie companions. Bluebell loves the vet! She also travels very well in the car and does find a car ride a great treat. She is now walking nicely on the lead, used to traffic/built up areas, has her appetite back and has been steadily gaining weight.

Due to her size and enthusiasm Bluebell would be suited to a child free home (teenagers or older ok), living with another dog(s) will depend on successful introductions first.

Update 5/9 - Keisha, a little sweetheart, has now been re-homed and is very happy and settled !

SBT X 'Keisha' aged 5-6mths approx.

KeishaKeisha is no longer to stay with her owner and has come into EDDR, she has been fully vaccinated, veterinary checked, wormed, de-flea'd and just had her ID Chip.

She is a very friendly girl and is looking for a family prepared to put continued effort into her socialisation and training.

Keisha has lived in a flat and is not yet fully house trained-she will soon pick this up. Keisha will need to be spayed shortly.

Further details - please contact rescue@endangereddogs.com

Nellie

Update October - Rosie has now found a great new home and is having a fantastic time! Nellie is still looking.

Update September - Puppies mum has now been re-homed after several months care and attention, at last she now has a new start and a great new life ahead in the Devon countryside.

Smurf, Mabel, Brian, Nora and Tony have all been found homes and are having a great time!

Seven American Bulldog Puppies

Four females and three males came into rescue from the Police. Following several weeks of TLC, veterinary treatment, wormings and lots of wholesome food these puppies, who had a very poor start in life, are now looking for new homes of their own. All will need bull breed experienced homes. Potential owners must have researched into the breed i.e., they are a large strong breed of dog (and not British Bulldogs).

SmurfDaily socialisation has began in the foster homes and new owners will need to continue this and also attend puppy training classes in their own area-you will need to enlist in a class and provide rescue with details. Potential owners must be at home most of the day to help keep them amused - puppies require a lot of dedication, patience and effort. All must be neutered when old enough and this will be checked on by the Rescue.

The puppies will have been fully vaccinated and ID Chipped prior to rehoming, they have all been wormed up to date.

Please note: we will not rehome to families with children under 8 yrs of age, nor to flats or other properties where the pups must use multiple stairs daily as this can cause problems with large breeds.

All potential homes are visited and checked by Rescue, adoption is subject to written agreement and a rehoming donation is asked for.

Sophie's Story - can you give it a happy ending? May 2007

Update June 2007 - Great News - Sophie has now been rehomed!

SophieAlmost one year ago, at the tender age of just five weeks old, Sophie and her littermates were handed over to rescue. They were said to be a deliberate crossbreeding, Stafford with American Bulldog. All five of the litter went into foster care, had vet checks, vaccinations and were ID chipped. Soon they were ready for new homes.

Home offers came through and one by one the pups found their forever homes. Almost one year on and all the pups are happy in their new lives - except for Sophie. Sophie was overlooked as a pup, she was never offered the right home and 11 months later, is still being overlooked and her story is missing its happy ending.

You're probably wondering what problems Sophie has, there must be something as to why she hasn't had a home? She is very pretty, beautiful markings and young too. Truth is there isn't any problem with Sophie at all. I know because she is in foster with me. Sophie lives with children. She does have a tendency to jump up but this is normally in excitement and she is learning that "sit" gets her a fuss when jumping doesn't. She also lives with a variety of other dogs! Some bigger, some smaller. Some older, some just puppies. Dogs and bitches, she plays with both. She doesn't like all other females but our homing procedures mean we generally don't home to homes with same sex dogs so this isn't the problem.

Sophie is good on lead and will walk with you for miles if you want too, equally she's happy to sit by your side in front of the TV. Sophie does have huge potential for agility or obedience. She is a very clever dog who will do anything for a treat. She is always waiting for you to give her something to do and with the right training I am convinced she is a star in the making. Sophie passed her KC Good Citizen bronze.

Despite her breeding she is not a big dog. She weighs in at a tiny 17kg is under knee height with a lab-like build. She doesn't have the muscular build of a bull breed, simply the colour and head shape, though her head is small. She is fully vaccinated, spayed and micro chipped. Currently in West Sussex, she can be rehomed anywhere if the family come to meet her first.

All she's missing is a forever home - can you help her find the happy ending?

Update May: - Hendrix is staying in his foster home forever

and no longer up for adoption!

Hendix loves a car ride, sleeping on your bed and fun with other dogs, he is not familiar with cats or other small pets. All prospective homes are vetted, a fully enclosed secure garden with fencing 6ft+ is needed.

Update May 2007 - Rodney is staying in his foster home providing that his new doggie friend continues to accept him!

'Rodney' - now in a new foster home Jan. '07

English Bull Terrier cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Approx. 3-4yrs Neutered, Fully Vaccinated and ID Chipped

Rodney is currently fostered and under the care of EDDR, he did suffer from separation anxiety but we have been working on that with him and he has been very good, not minding being left for up to 4 hours. He does become anxious during thunderstorms/fireworks and needs to be kept occupied with a durable chew.

Rodney is not used to cats and is looking for a home with someone who has bull breed experience and a secure garden. he is very playful and can get over excited and grab your trouser legs/shoe laces- this is something we have been working on and he is now a lot better if you are quick to divert his attention onto a suitable toy, Rodney loves everyone he meets, Rodney is very people orientated, he has been good with bitches and the males he has met and gone for a walk with, Rodney walks well on leash, he will try and give chase to rabbits etc and stays on a flexi lead or long line. He travels well in the car.

Rodney would suit older children or adults only as he does tend to get overexcited! Rodney's background isn't known as he came in from the Dog Warden who found him straying and bleeding, he had received two deep puncture injuries, looking like stab wounds, to his body, one to his shoulder the other to his side, his penis had been sliced open and his abdomen has also been cut in a straight line with a very sharp tool, he received veterinary treatment and has now fully recovered.

All prospective homes will be vetted and adoption is subject to a written agreement, you will need to travel to meet Rodney.

Update - Good News-Purdy has found a lovely new home in Hertfordshire.

SBT x Collie

Purdy is an 10 week old staffie x collie bitch. I know they don't look anything like staffies but we have met mum and she most certainly is a full stafford, so we guess they just take after dad!

Although Purdy looks very cute and fluffy she will require a lot of time and effort to ensure she grows into a nice well mannered dog. She will be an energetic dog who will require long walks and plenty of entertaining to avoid boredom setting in an active and intelligent mind. She will nip and be destructive while teething. She must attend training classes for a puppy.

Purdy can be rehomed to a home with a neutered male but not with very small children as she will be very bouncy! She will need a 6 ft fully fenced secure garden and someone home most of the time. Purdy will be available for homing after the new year.

Purdy will have had at least her first vaccination and be micro chipped. Home checks will be carried out and a donation asked for.

Update January: - Purdy has now come to EDDR for rehoming

Ellie is living with five other dogs, she has learnt lots from them and likes to play plenty, as you would expect from a puppy, Ellie is almost toilet trained and not used to cats.

She is looking for a home with someone who is around during the day (does not work full time), has previous bull breed experience and plenty of time and energy to give, her new adopters will need to attend training classes and Ellie will need to be spayed when old enough-this will be checked up on, enjoying the company of other dogs - she can be rehomed with a neutered male and your garden must be securely enclosed.

Tyser finds his forever home:

Tyser was an 18mth unwanted American Bulldog, he came into 1EDDR and was neutered, fully vaccinated, ID Chipped, health checked and wormed by us.

Tyser had some separation anxiety when he first arrived but had gradually got used to being left alone for short periods of time, he enjoys lots of play and games, loves chew toys and lots of interaction with people.

Tyser has been introduced to clicker training and was very responsive, he is highly motivated and enjoys learning.

2

Tyser found a great new home and fantastic owners, he has packed his bags and headed to rural Lincolnshire, with a great big garden to play around in, lots of local walks, big comfy duvet to sleep on, but best of, a cafe attached to his home, doggie heaven, it just doesn't get any better, full English breakfast and snacks throughout the day, everyone loves him and we shall have some new photos from his owners soon.

So expect to be served by Tyser if you stop by for a meal, he does help dish up a mean fish, chips and pies. But who has eaten all the pies!

A very happy ending!

Sampson - Update:

sampson

Sampson has now found a great new home!

American Bulldog Male
19 months.
Neutered, Vaccinated and ID Chipped.

Previously with HOPE Rescue.

Sampson Update - August

Sampson has now moved on to the Mayhew Animal Home in North London, if you are interested in offering him a home - please contact the Mayhew

Samson is a twenty-month-old, male American Bulldog, who came to The Mayhew on a recent rescue run. He has an amazing personality - full of love, fun and bounce in equal measure. He is great with other dogs but can be a little over-boisterous for some dogs who cannot match his size and sense of fun. For this reason, we would prefer to rehome him as an only dog. He is strong on his lead and will need to be trained not to pull. When off his lead, he has perfect recall. This lively boy will need at least two hours of off-lead exercise every day.

Samson is eager to please, knowing all the basic commands and being very responsive. His new guardians will need to continue his training by taking him to training classes. He is toilet-trained and can be left alone for up to four hours without any problems. He was encouraged to play rough in his previous home and will need to be taught appropriate boundaries now that he is such a big boy. He is looking for a new home with an experienced guardian who has owned large Bull breeds, if not American Bulldogs, before. He is fine with sensible children, but owing to his size and ebullience, he cannot go to a home with very small children.

Samson is an incredibly affectionate dog, who just loves to be cuddled, stroked and talked to, and who loves everyone he meets. He also loves his food and will do anything for a treat. This will come in handy when teaching him that jumping up to say hello is simply not on any more at his age. He also loves his tug-toys and prefers to have a person to play with, though he is quite happy to entertain himself too. This boy's temperament is superb. A real heart-throb.

If you're interested in offering Samson a loving, forever home or would like to know more about him please visit The Mayhew Animal Home any Tuesday to Friday between 1pm - 3pm.

He is on ear drops for his right ear and ECR are happy to sponsor the supply of this.

October Update: Dizzy has found his forever home and has settled in very well, he is a very happy lad - New Home Update here.

Dizzy needs a home of his own - or a foster - please help him find one

Dizzy is under the care of Animal Concern Cumbria-West Branch, who write:

Dizzy

He is 5 years old and is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross.

Dizzy is completely blind, even though he had an operation to both eyes late last year to remove cataracts, which restored partial sight.

Dizzy is a very loving dog who loves to play with water and he loves the seaside with sandy beaches.

He needs a stable home where furniture would never be changed around, a secure garden/exercise area and a regular routine.

Dizzy loves everyone he meets and quickly wins their hearts. He is truly a special little boy, whose only fault in life was being born partially sighted.

After taking a turn for the worse in recent weeks, Dizzy is yet again fighting for a full recovery (December) He is extremely stressed in his kennel and we urgently need to get him into a home.

Dizzy also enjoys traveling and will happily fall asleep in the car. He doesn't suffer from car sickness.
He has been neutered, vaccinated, wormed and frontlined.
Dizzy is getting more and more stressed each day at the kennels. He needs a home NOW!!!

For further information, please contact us

February Update:

Dizzy

Dizzy hasn't found a home yet, but he did manage to find a foster home - although he can't stay there much longer.

His foster mum and children adore him and have found him to be a perfect companion despite his minor disability. He has so much love to give and is a real gentleman too.

Two of the Puppies (see 'young ones appeal') now in foster care (Sussex) are looking for a permanent home of their own.

They are fully wormed and have had their 1st vaccination.
All puppies adopted will need to be neutered once old enough.
All homes/potential adopters will be fully vetted and adoption is subject to written agreement.

The pups are having lots of fun and most importantly lots of socialisation and interaction in their foster home.
The adopters will be expected to attend puppy classes in their own area.

Puppies are time consuming and a lot of work and dedication is involved, they don't stay small for long and potential adopters need to be thinking ahead as they will soon have a fully grown dog to care for.

If you could offer a good home - for further details - please contact:

Amanda - rescue@endangereddogs.com

Update: Both puppies have now been adopted.

Stella is a very huggable Stafford x Collie Male

He has been neutered, ID Chipped and is Vaccinated.

Stella will be 2yrs in June, he currently lives with his owner and Rocky a Collie neutered male, plus 2 cats Muffin and Mindy.

Stella's owner feels she can't manage two dogs, both dogs are adored but a new home is hoped for Stella.

Stella is house clean and not destructive when left alone for up to 3 hrs when his owner goes to shops etc. He is an active friendly fellow, loves long walks and lots of company, he is very quick to take to you and thinks all people are great.

Stella isn't used to living with very small children, he would suit a home where he will not be left for too long each day, with someone who enjoys walks and could pick up with his training - he is very motivated and would love to learn more, it would be great fun for him.

Stella is staying with his owner to avoid going into kennels.

Further details, please contact:
rescue@endangereddogs.com
Adoption subject to written agreement, all homes are vetted.

Stella Update:
Stella the Staffie cross Collie has been rehomed.

He has found a great new home with a lovely family and resident new friend - Cassie, herself a rescue dog and Staffie cross!

Owner debbie writes:

" we are all happy with how Cassie & Stella are getting on, now we take them up the chase, & they both run with their balls, it's funny watching them with their ball on a rope, especially when they run together with it in there mouths, one with one end, other with the other end, Stella's starting to show his true character now. We go to Barmouth next weekend, so can't wait to see them both on the beach!"

Rescue Placement Urgently Needed

Named 'Weaver' by the lady who took him in.
SBT X, Approx. 1 year
,
Neutered and ID Chipped.

WeaverThis little dog was originally taken into the vets by his owner to be destroyed, described as 'untrainable' and not doing what he's told etc, hyperactive and unruly.

Lucky for Weaver, the vets called in a local lady, Lisa, who rescues animals and asked her to help.

Lisa took in Weaver as a temporary measure, he is in a crate and has been Neutered and Id Chipped, the house is full of rescued cats, small animals and older dogs. There just isn't any space for Weaver and the situation is desperate.
Weaver runs and has a 'mad five minutes' when he comes out, but knocks over the older dogs including a 16yr old three legged Yorkie, who understandable doesn't want to play rough n tumble games.

Weaver needs to go into rescue so that a suitable home for him can be found.
EDDR hasn't currently any space to take him in.

Please if you have a space please contact:
rescue@endangereddogs.com

Weaver Update - April

As a rescue placement couldn't be found for Weaver - he is currently staying where he is. If you are able to offer him a rescue place - please contact EDDR for further information

'Winston'

American Bulldog
13mths -
North/North West

Winston is being rehomed as his owners are working full time and don't feel it is fair on their dog.

He is vaccinated with a pet passport, ID chipped and he will be neutered shortly.

Winston hasn't lived with other dogs, but he does live with a cat.

All prospective homes will be vetted and adoption is subject to the terms and conditions as laid down via written agreement.

Winston - Update April:

Winston is no longer looking for a new home as he is now able to stay with his owners.

'Ollie'

Ollie's owner had become homeless and was unable to find accommodation for both him and his dog, whilst living rough Ollie got into a disagreement with another dog which resulted in an injury to his face. He owner tried his best, but with no money or anywhere to live had no option other than to part with his dog who he had owned since a puppy.

EDDR has provided veterinary treatment, Ollie was sedated and cleaned up, his eye had swollen and closed but an x-ray revealed no permanent damage, his tear duct was also intact, so following medication over the past 10 days, Ollie is now all well once again and looking for a home of his own.

Ollie is currently in a foster home, he has been neutered and vaccinated, he is very laid back, used to children 5yrs and upwards, house clean, not destructive when left, he travels very well and is good with other dogs.

Ollie is not cat friendly and will give chase to rabbits etc given half the chance.

Further Info:

rescue@endangereddogs.com

All homes vetted and subject to the terms and conditions as laid down via written agreement.

Update 17th February:

Ollie the Lurcher has been found a lovely new home.

He had made a complete recovery in his foster home and has settled down very well with his new owner, enjoying long walks and snoozing in front of the fire-his favourite place with his new plush bedding and toys tucked away.

'Patch'
Patch

South/ South East

Approx. 18mths

Neutered, ID Chipped, wormed and Vaccinated.

Patch is a small sized Terrier, unable to stay with his current owners due to changes in their work.

He has been going out every day with his dad, in a van, loves sitting in the front seat and driving all around.

Patch came to stay with us last weekend, he is a delightful little lad, not overly interested in other dogs as he hasn't mixed much with them before, quiet to begin and then opens up, loving lots of play.

Not introduced to cats.

Patch has been living in a flat without a garden and due to being left or not able to get out quick enough in the morning, has relapsed on his toilet training, but when he came to stay with us for the weekend he had no accidents, he would greatly enjoy a garden to play in.

Patch likes a big soft Teddy to run about with, but most of all he likes to jump in your lap, travels very well in the car, walks nicely on leash.

Further Info:rescue@endangereddogs.com

Update 12th November:
Great news - Rescue dog Patch has been rehomed.

He has gone to a great new home with two very caring owners all of his own, Patch had previously only known a flat without garden but now has 2 acres to run about in and has also been enjoying his daily walks, Patch went to his new home on his 2nd Birthday - so Happy Birthday Patch!

Patch Update:

Patch & New Owner
From one of his new owners Guy:

Patch is completely settled and, I think, very happy. We have had his rabies jabs done so he can come to France on holiday in August - lucky boy!

Sandy the Staffie - cross finds a home
Sandy
Hi, my name is Sandy; this is a picture of when I was very unhappy.

I was thrown out of a vehicle and left in a noisy tunnel, too scared to move I crouched down as I had some kind of painful liquid poured over me, it burnt into my coat as it dripped down my back, some of the cars just drove around me in that tunnel, some stopped to look, but someone called the Police and they came and picked me up.

I was taken back to the Police Station, they were very nice and I stayed behind the desk with a police lady, then a vet came out to help me, they said the liquid was some type of acid like battery acid.

I was taken to a Rescue in Kent, no one came forward to claim me, then I went on to the EDDR but thought I would just stay quiet and shy for a while, sometimes when you’re just a dog you get hurt by the humans, but these people were really nice. I stayed here for quite a while as I didn’t look very nice with all my scars, there are lots of Stafford crosses in rescues and a lot are younger than me, the longer I stayed in Rescue, overlooked, the harder it became, but one day my special people came, they are Sally and Steve and now we all live together. I have been on holiday with Sally and Steve, we all went on a houseboat, it was great, I go on long walks, they are everything to me and we all couldn’t be happier.

Sandy’s adopters write;

“He’s such a character - tells us off if he does not get his walk at the same time every day, tells us off if we talk on the phone when we first get in - he is such a creature of habit - goes to bed if it gets late and we are not going up at the usual time....We are taking him on a canal boat holiday next month - just have to make sure he does not dive in!!

He loves our new conservatory - quite often just goes in there for a quiet sit down watching the birds....still loves playing football - although tends to burst the ball after a few games. This hot weather is not great for him but we had heavy rain Monday night and we went out and got drenched - but both liked it as it was so much cooler! Sandy loves going out in the car - he would be quite happy just going for a drive, getting out is nice but he just likes the car - sometimes if its too hot or too wet he just goes and stands by the car rather than walking off for his walk ....he eats like a horse....very keen on organic yoghurt - he can smell it as soon as I open a pot.....”

Give a rescue Staffie cross a home.

'Taff'
Staffordshire Bull Terrier male
Neutered

Taff was unwanted but it now safe with Lizzie's Barn Animal Sanctuary, based in South Wales.

Taff would love a home of his own and a nice comfy armchair to curl up in.

Fionna at the sanctuary describes Taff as:

He is approx 13 years, a delightful dog with lovely temperament.

A real old gent. Superb with all he meets.

Taff may have had an accident at some time, he walks as though he has a few- but boy can he shift when he wants to!

This old fella is almost bombproof.

Please contact:

Fionna on lizziesbarn@aol.com

Taff Update - October:

Taff the older Staffie has found a great new home!

He now lives in a lovely cottage in rural Wilstshire, with lots of company, including a lady Staffie, young Labrador male and the cats.

News from Taff's new owner Helen:

Thought I might share with you a 'Day in the Life' of Taff.

It's been over three weeks now since he came to live with us. Every day he is more confident and waggy (never seen a dog with a tail that wags so fast, it's a blur when in full throttle!).

It's been a wonderful experience rehoming a dog

So here's a typical day in Taff's life:

Post breakfast, early morning snooze - because life isn't to be rushed you know!

Midday wander in the woods

Afternoon nap with friends

Early evening 'hen round-up'

Time for bed - night night

Adopt an older dog

'Hudson'
18mths approx. SBT x BT - Special Needs

Hudson was originally saved by Waggtails rescue in Essex, he is now with the Mayhew Animal Home and looking for a home of his own:

http://www.mayhewanimalhome.org/adopt/dogmeet.html

Hudson is an eighteen-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and English Bull Terrier cross. He is looking for a special and understanding family, as he is deaf.

Hudson is a friendly dog and gets on well with others of his kind, although he would prefer to be the only dog in the house. He also wouldn't suit a house with young children, as he tends to be a little mouthy and possessive around his toys.

He is very playful and loves water and footballs. Hudson would ideally like a home with teenagers to play football with, although with his nimble feet, he might hog the ball!

THE MAYHEW ANIMAL HOME
Trenmar Gardens, London NW10 6BJ
Opening times are 11am-4pm everyday.

If you are interested in adopting an animal, please contact our reception on 020 8969 0178 to book a viewing appointment. We are open for re-homing Monday to Friday between 11am - 2pm, with specific dog adoption days on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please note, we are unable to show you any animals after 3.30pm.

Hudson Update - Good News!
October 2005:

Hudson finds his great new home and lovely owners who said on DP:

"My name is Karen and I live with my boyfriend Paul. We've had Hudson for a couple of weeks now and although it's still early days, he's coming on fantastically!

When we got Hudson home he went mad attacking wood sleepers in the garden and shredded 4 dog toys and a basket ball - all this after only an hour and we were beginning to wonder what we had let ourselves in for!

But a couple of weeks later and he is learning all of the basic commands (as long as there is a toy or food attached at the moment!) He is very, very smart, picking up 'Lie Down' in less than a day! We are also just discovering how much he likes his lie-ins in the morning - It was after 10am when he was forced out of bed for his scrambled eggs this morning!

Thank you to Lisa and all of the others at the Mayhew, he has turned out to be a star! Please visit their site and help others in need."

'Tyser'
18mths approx.
American Bulldog
Tyser

Has been neutered, fully vaccinated, wormed and ID chipped by rescue.

Tyser was unable to say with his previous owners and passed over to someone else who asked if EDDR would take him in and find a good home for him.

His exact age is not known, he is very puppy like in nature but doesn't realise his own size, bounding around, Tyser loves meeting new people his tail never stops wagging and will constantly flick your legs plus any low lying ornaments around the home!

Tyser had some separation anxiety when he first arrived but has gradually got used to being left alone for short periods of time, he enjoys lots of play and games, loves chew toys and lots if interaction with people.

Tyser has been introduced to clicker training and is very responsive, he is highly motivated and enjoys learning, his new owner will need to continue with his training and attendance at a training class would be beneficial.

Tyser is not introduced to cats.

He has been introduced to other dogs and tends to go in full steam for play which with his size (over 95lbs) doesn't always go down well with the other dog. Tyser was attacked by another dog before he came to rescue (stitches in ear) and is still a bit wary of males - more so if they are intimidating to him.

He has not been let off leash and walks well on a flexi, pulling to begin with but soon settling down, he wants to greet everyone he meets and will pull with bum wagging ready to give out lots of slobbery licks.

Tyser previous home had young children, but due to his size and tendency to knock over accidentally he would be best suited to a home without small children, also somewhere with enough space to accommodate him and used to lots of doggie drool.

If you have experience with the breed or larger breeds of dog, please contact EDDR for further details and an application form. All adoptions are subject to the terms and conditions as laid down, all prospective homes will be home checked.

Tyser

'Tyser' Update:

Tyser, the beautiful American Bulldog has gone on to a great new home.

We were all very sad to see him go, he is such a character and so great always next to you anticipating your next move!

A very happy ending!

Foster Home Found

For a Stafford X male, 6mths, who will be looking for a permanent home shortly.

Currently in the Lancashire area, he is being looked after by a veterinary nurse who can only keep him for a few more days. We are trying to avoid a kennel situation for him if at all possible.

The dog was brought into the vets by his original owner, the reason given was due to a fall down a flight of stairs, upon examination his rear leg was found to be fractured and couldn't be saved, he was booked in for an amputation but the owner never returned to collect him.

He has recovered from the operation well, has stitches but needs help to adjust to three legs.

If you have a quiet home and could foster:

Please contact;
rescue@endangereddogs.com

Minnie - Yorkshire:

Bull Breed mix - 11mths of age. Fully vaccinated.

MinnieMinnie's owner has had a back operation and her family can no longer care for her, giving her the time and attention she needs.

Minnie is a strong girl and has become bored in the house, she needs someone who is active and able to spend time with her, walking, playing games, etc.

Minnie has just finished her season and will need to be spayed in a few weeks time, once she has settled down in her new home.

Minnie is not socialised with cats, is living with another dog and very people orientated, she has had a skin rash but this has improved greatly with a change in diet, EDDR has brought her some Burns dried complete food and she has been doing well on this.

It's good news for Minnie at long last !

Tara - Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Special Needs – Deaf

TaraTara is looking for a permanent home on a 'one to one' basis, ideally someone experienced with dogs, patient and able to spend time with her, full support from rescue and canine behaviourist experienced with deaf dogs and their needs.

See Tara’s details on our ‘Special Appeal’ page, Tara’s operation was a success and she would love a home of her own, for further details.

Update June ’05:

Megan - GSD X

MeganMegan is just 18mths of age and looking for a home of her own.

Megan has been spayed, vaccinated and ID Chipped, she is a healthy, bouncy girl and extremely loving.

She has been overlooked several times and desperate to come out of the kennel environment. Megan is good with other dogs if large and bouncy like herself and willing to have a good game and put her in her place, she is a bit overpowering for smaller dogs and not introduced to cats.

Megan would benefit from a home with someone who is active and enjoys walks.

Free training classes if re-homed in the Yorkshire area with behaviourist Julie Pett (ChMIACE) http://www.pett-behaviour.co.uk/

For further details - Please Contact:
rescue@endangereddogs.com

Update 24th May:

Megan has found a lovely new home of her own! She has been settling in very well this week.

'Molly'

1 year old American Bulldog.

Fully vaccinated, ID Chipped and about to be spayed.

Molly is a loving American Bulldog, she is unable to stay with her current family as with five young children they have just run out of space in their home and feel they cannot devote enough time to meet her needs.

Molly has been a much loved family member and has been well socialised from a young age.

Molly is looking for a new home with more space available for her to enjoy, preferable with some one who has breed experience.

Molly is a very affectionate dog, she loves human contact, is approx. 100lbs in weight-so someone with breed or large dog experience would be better suited for her.

Molly has been great with the children, she loves her walks and wants to play with other dogs, she likes to try and greet everyone she meets and sometimes does forget how big she is!

Molly is not destructive in the home and doesn't mind being left for short periods of time.

Molly is not used to living with cats.

All homes will be vetted, references will be required and adoption is subject to written agreement.

Further details from;
rescue@endangereddogs.com

Update:

Molly the American Bulldog is staying with her owners, after much thought and consideration, which is good newsas she loves them all very much.

Thank you for your letters and offers of a home for her.

'Ted'
Rottie Cross, 4 months old

Ted

Fully vaccinated, veterinary health checked, micro chipped and wormed.

Teddy is now looking for his forever home, he is house trained and quite simply a super dog.

Greatly loves to play with other dogs, digging holes, running, rolling, splashing in water bowl.

Not socialised with cats, currently in a foster home.
Would suit a home with owners who have dog experience and are willing to attend beginners obedience classes.

Further details:
rescue@endangereddogs.com

Ted Update: Ted has been re-homed and has settled in very well with his new owner Mike and their rescue Doberman Lula.

URGENT

Kennel space needed for young American Bulldog male.

Picked up by the Dog Warden loose and running around lost, he has come in as a stray dog and has not been claimed by anyone, the 7 days are up.

Being a stray dog - no background is known, he is not micro chipped.

Has been well behaved in kennels and staff have found him easy to handle.

He is currently in the Norfolk area, if you can help him:

Please contact: rescue@endangereddogs.com

Thank you to Brendan who has offered to travel considerable distance to pick him up (no doubt through some artic conditions) and will then be looking after him until a suitable home can be found. We will have an update from his fosterer Brendan soon.

American Bulldog Update
:

'BigBoy' has come to the EDDR Sanctuary and will be staying with us.

He is not up for re-homing as he has been through quite a lot in his short life and is undergoing some rehabilitation to help him.

If you would like to support him - please send in a small donation to go towards his veterinary or food bills or send him a tough durable chew in the post.

We will post an update of his progress to this web site.

Thank You for your emails received concerning him.

'Poppy'
approx. 4.5 mths

GSD x Rottie, fully vaccinated, ID Chipped, fully wormed, veterinary health checked.

Poppy has come back to us as her new home hasn't worked out for her.

Her new owners were lovely and have tried very hard but their resident cats will just not accept Poppy and there was mutiny, they're just not having any of it!

Poppy would benefit from a home with another dog-as she loves doggie company and is used to settling down at nights with another dog, snuggling up together.

House clean (well almost), likes to make a big mess in your garden, learning basic commands, new owner would be expected to take approved puppy classes and basic obedience classes, lots of energy-lively little girl.

As Poppy will grow to be quite large-she is a GSD X Rottie, new owners with large dog experience would be suited.

Further Info: rescue@endangereddogs.com

Foster update:

Foster renamed 'Poppie' has found a great new home.

She has now been adopted and has been settling in very well and is an extremely happy & content little dog.

Thank you for your messages offering to help her.

Area: North/North East
A good home is needed for Sonnie, he is approx, 18mths of age.

Sonnie was originally owned by someone who had no time for him, he was taken in by a local lady who has cared for him since before Xmas but desperately needs to re-home him as she isn't herself situated to take on a dog.

Sonnie has been castrated, fully vaccinated and wormed.

He is an active lad, requiring a home with bull breed experience.

A stunning looking boy, house clean, not socialised with cats and can't be trusted with other males when out for walks.

Further details - please contact rescue@endangereddogs.com and I will put you in touch with his owner (who has asked us to post his details as she is not on the internet)

Update 10/2:

Sonnie has gone on to his new home! Best wishes to him and his new owners.

Thank you to Lynda in Lincolnshire who volunteered to carry out a home check for Sonnie last weekend and at short notice.

'Bongo'

Rottweiler x GSD / Approx. 12wks.

Fully vaccinated / ID Chipped / Fully wormed

'Bongo' is in a foster home where he has been getting lots of socialisation and TLC.

He is a happy, healthy, bouncy lad, almost house-trained apart from the odd relapse as to be expected with a youngster.

Is getting used to being left for short periods of time - happy as long as he has plenty to keep him occupied such as his favourite toys.

Bongo is very appealing - as all pups are, but requires time and effort from his new family.

Would be suited to go to someone with breed experience, if could offer Bongo a forever home, please contact; rescue@endangereddogs.com for further details.

All prospective homes are 'home checked' and adoption is subject to written agreement.

Update 10/2:

Bongo has been adopted and gone on to his new home.

Thank you to everyone who enquired about him, he has been settling in very well and we shall have an update from his new family soon.

A special thank you to Pam in Dorset who fostered Bongo and gave him a very good introduction into the big wide world, with lots of care, house training, socialisation and all a young rescue puppy requires.

Foster Update:

As we've received several emails asking about rescue dog 'Number 1528' - named 'Foster' here is an update - she went into a foster home last night, she is able to stay here for a few days, so a little extra time has been brought - thanks to the kind people who have taken her in - but a further foster home or permanent home is needed by the weekend.

'Foster' now known as Poppie - went to her new foster home (2nd one as 1st could only keep for few days) and here is an update from her new foster mum Angela:
She is friendly and loves everybody,

In the home she is a dream, she is very clever too as she can open doors to investigate other rooms but she waits till you have popped out to do this but does not do anything wrong just has a look round.

She is good off the lead and comes straight back when called, she travels fab in car and i'm finding it hard to just think I'm fostering her not sure i wanna let her go but i know other dogs deserve my help so i'm in a quandry now do i keep or do i let go lol angela x

'Holly' - Bull Terrier X

HollyHolly has come from a pet shop, she was rescued by a veterinary nurse at just four and a half weeks of age, she was about to be purchased with a view to being bred from at six months of age.
Holly has been checked over by the vet and is being de-wormed, she will have her first vaccination and then be ready for re-homing in two weeks time.
Holly is expected to be a Bull Terrier X, she is getting lots of socialisation with other dogs, cats, rabbits and people all in a home environment.

She is looking for a home with:
Someone who is prepared to attend local puppy classes and then beginners obedience.
Someone who has 'bull breed' experience rather than a first time dog owner as we do not know what size she grow into :-)

Holly Update:

Holly the Bull Terrier X pup has been placed. She is being re-homed local to her fosterer. We wish the little girl well!

'Blue'
7mths Male Blue Neapolitan Mastiff.

Blue
Blue

'Blue' has already been through 4 known homes in just 7mths, but through no fault of his own.

He has come into rescue and is looking for a permanent home of his own, he has a foster home to go to - but if a suitable permanent home can be found all the better to help him settle.

'Blue' is not fully house trained and has the odd accident but will quickly pick it up! He is fully vaccinated and ID Chipped, has been health checked and wormed by rescue.

Blue has been let down several times, he is looking for a home with someone who has experience with his breed rather than a first time dog owner.

He requires further socialisation, is not used to walking on leash in a built up area or going off leash as yet, just learning some basic commands, he is very friendly with people and very puppy like enjoying lots of interaction and fun.

Not used to traveling in the car but will settle down, has not been destructive when left alone indoors for short periods of time.

Likes his food (handy for training), not overly interested in toys, greatly enjoys human contact - quick to bond, not introduced to cats or horses, has met some other rescue dogs and has been playful with bitches and a neutered male.

Further Information - Please Contact:

rescue@endangereddogs.com

Update:

'Blue' has now gone on to a dedicated Breed Rescue.

He is having a great time and has made friends with 'Rosie' the St.Bernard who is teaching him a few rules of the house:-)

Here he is pictured just before he left for his foster home, with some doggie friends he met at the rescue.

Blue, renamed 'Bron' is still in his foster home where he is happy and settled.

Bron has been diagnosed with Hip Dysplacia and the vet will decide which is the best course of action to take and when to take it.

Canine Hip Dysplacia:

http://www.thedogscene.co.uk/articles/health/hd.htm

Bron Update June:

Bron was re-homed but sadly it did not work out for him.

He is now looking for a foster home with an owner experienced with the breed or large dogs.

Contact: rescue@endangereddogs.com for the details of the Rescue Bron has gone on to.

Bron Update:

Bron has found a lovely new home and has a new guardian angel, Wendy, to take care of him.

He had been waiting for a long time but thanks to Wendy and her family, all experienced with the breed, he is now settled and happy, he also has the company of other dogs-ladies as well, Bron’s favourite!

Wendy writes:

“He's doing great, made himself at home!

He was castrated on Tuesday this week and touch-wood that's all gone well. He'll be able to spend more time with my girls now, as he was getting very frisky with them.

I'm feeding him three times a day at the moment so it's quite a bit of food he missed. Mind you he's eating well again now, it's more of a case of no over doing it as I'm sure he'd probably eat twice the amount I'm giving him. But as you know he had an up-set stomach in kennels and again after he'd been here about a week, so I'm trying to avoid that.

He's so friendly with everyone, even going to the vets it's great fun to him. His tail never stops wagging!

He just loves everyone. He really is a pleasure to have.”

Meet 'Shanti' - one of the GSD x Rottie puppies who found a lovely new home

Her new owners write:

Shanti is growing fast and has doubled her weight, she is absolutely full of energy, the last two weeks we have been taking her down to Hayling Island to let her run along the beach, and then using treats to get her to come back when called, she loves the sea and thinks its great chasing the waves in and out.

Here she is pictured on a Sunday day out by the sea, meeting lots of new people and dogs and at
home giving a big smile for the camera!

Sasha

Sasha the Rottweiler - a happy ending:

Sasha an 18mth old Rottie bitch could no longer be kept by her owner. Her owner who is a registered child minder of over 25yrs experience, had been informed that the new company she works for does not agree to the type of dog kept in the house, her owner was devastated and was eventually after much debate forced to put her job first and part with her beloved dog.

Sasha was collected from Birmingham (thank you Eugene for volunteering) and came back to the EDDR who found her a very good home in Bournemouth, Dorset, with Shaun who runs a rescue for elderly dogs desperately needing help and shelter.

Sasha the 18mth Rottweiler has been re-homed:

Sasha the Rottweiler with EDDR has found a lovely new home of her own. She has settled in very well with her new owners and the resident elderly rescue dogs. Sasha has lots of new friends to keep her occupied, all the rescue dogs have taken to her and she is enjoying all the fun and games as well as offering some much needed therapy to dogs less fortunate than herself.

Sasha will be a great help as the new rescue dogs arrive for fostering and lots of TLC in cases of abuse and neglect, she is so very good at putting the little ones at ease and making them feel comfortable, safe and relaxed, always carefully treading around them and leading the way when out for a walk-they all follow her.

Sasha loves the water and she has already made good use of a friends garden pond, diving in straight away and then running in to sit comfortable on the sofa! Ooops. She isn't far from the sea and a day trip to the coast might be soon on the agenda. :-)

Area - South West

GSD x Rottie pup.
(One of the 7 pups rescued before Xmas)

Abbie is looking for a good experienced home of her own, she is in an excellent foster home at present.

Abbie has been health checked by the vet, has had her 1st inoculation and been fully wormed.

She is almost house trained and being a happy youngster enjoys landscape gardening and some interior designing too!

Bringing up a puppy is a time consuming job which takes a lot of effort and patience. You will need to attend puppy training classes and be able not to leave Abbie for long periods of time.

All homes are home checked and adoption is subject to written agreement.

Further details: rescue@endangereddogs.com

Update 10/2:

Abbie, renamed Pheobe, has been settling in very well in her new home.

She is a very special girl and we shall have an update from her new owners soon.

A big thank you to Claire and the Kirk family who fostered Abbie and took such good care of her, with lots of introductions to people, dogs and cats, some training and in return Abbie dug some nice holes in their garden and got herself into all kinds of puppy mischief!

Abbie got a head start and lots of TLC which was so desperately needed.

Henry the American Bulldog X DDB is very happy in his new home !
Henry
Henry & friend

Henry and his owner were both made homeless, it was cold and getting pretty depressing for all concerned, Henry's owner was told to have his dog put to sleep (due to his breeding), but at just 18mths of age and with a brilliant temperament this was never going to be an option, so the two struggled on together sleeping rough in a car for several weeks.

Local rescues were contacted but all were already full to bursting with dogs and no space for Henry could be found, events took a turn for the better when rescue worker Alyson published Henry's plight on the internet and asked EDDR if they could help.

Henry was signed over to the EDDR and was very lucky to go straight into a foster home with Bryon and Vanessa, he was withdrawn when he first arrived and had lost weight and condition but quickly adapted to his new home environment, he was health checked and ID chipped at the vets.

Henry became great friends with the resident rescue Rottie bitch Merlin, her jaw had been previously broken and never healed correctly-her tongue often hanging out, Henry sits and licks round her mouth, the two also like to both squeeze into the bed together as well!

Bryon went on to adopt Henry - the very special boy:-)

Vanessa writes:
"he is now right up to weight again with the appetite of a horse. He has completely come out of himself now he has settled into his new environment and is just so excited about life!! He gives a big greeting when you come in, enjoys his food and goes loopy when he sees his lead. His recall is improving although he still gets distracted when other dogs are about as he just wants to play"

Henry the gentle giant now has his own army of fans - everyone locally knows him and stops when he is out to say hello and give him a pat, he recently had a lot of fun on the South Wales walk and behaved impeccable around the 30 other odd dogs all enjoying their stroll along the beach.

VERY URGENT
'Norman' 10 - 12 years old male brindle Stafford.

Norman is looking for a fireside to spend his remaining years. Thus said he looks and acts young for his age, he has very little grey. He doesn't like fireworks so care would need to be taken at certain times of year, he would be best suited as an only pet where his new owners would be at home with him most of the time.

His owners are emigrating 4th November and he cannot be kennelled as he self harms and really doesn't like it, so he must be homed before they leave.

If you know of anyone that would be able to offer Norman a home please give us a call or email!!!!

Norman is currently in Peterborough

Update 3/Nov:

Good News - Norman the Stafford has found a new home, he is off to live with his new owner:-) Thank you everyone who enquired after him.

Staffs at Stray dog kennels - Update:

BobThe white Stafford cross, now named 'Bob' arrived yesterday from Kennels in Herts.

He had a health examination at the vets last night, had his first vaccination, was given a proper worming and has been ID Chipped.

Temperature and heart was normal, underweight but should soon catch up.

He was very good at the vets and enjoyed all the attention from the nurses, didn't care much for the micro chip going in, but had some tasty treats and took it all in his stride.

Very unhappy in the kennel last night, screamed the place down as just wants to be inside with people, so he came in and slept in the kitchen with the radio on for company:-)

Bob has gone onto to his foster home today, first will most likely be a nice bath to have him smelling lovely:-)

Thanks to Tony who collected unwanted Bob at very short notice yesterday and saved him from being put to sleep.

Tony has brought Bob some items for his suitcase as it wasn't fair him not having anything of his own, so he now has his own collar, lead, bowls and not forgetting the all essential food and toys necessary for all trips and it is the summer holidays after all, so why should Bob miss out!

Taken from 'Bob's' Diary!

I went out to work at 3am, I was exhausted and fell asleep on route, lucky I wasn't driving, but I gotto keep the driver company. Had a sausage roll for breakfast from the café, nice.

Down to the works place early, today they were taking photos of me to go and show off, then out comes 'Bob's bowl' really it is Jim's breakfast bowl but no one has told him that yet, out comes the McDonalds and I've got me own as the boss shouted 'don't forget the dogs or don't come back'. Nice bunch here. Off home now, I'm going back to bed for a nap.

Bob

Good News - Bob has been re-homed!

Thank you to those who sent in messages to either offer a home or support for him.

'Oliver'
is 2yrs old, brindle bully, living with his owner and her 8yr old son, both are very, very upset but forced to part with him due to a drastic change in personal situation.

Owner has telephoned several rescues but all too full to help.
Fully vaccinated.
Oliver is described as good with other dogs, big strong boy, pulls like a steam engine on leash, not socialised with cats and not used to going off lead. Clean and not destructive in house (currently left during day as owner has had to return to full time work).

Oliver was treated at the vets several months ago for some kind of allergic reaction, he would just faint, several tests were carried out and he was found to be having a reaction to his own saliva, a problem with a hormonal link. Oliver was prescribed medication for 4mths, he has be in the clear now for 3mths and not had any further problems.

If your rescue has space to take him in-please contact:

rescue@endangereddogs.com

Oliver has been taken in by Bullies In Need.

He has gone into a foster home for assessment and will be re-homed once he is ready.

'Buster'
4-5 yrs male, Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Buster is no longer able to stay with his family due to a sudden change in their circumstances.

He is a very loving, people orientated dog, loves fun and games and to be just by your side.

Not socialised with cats, okay with bitches once introduced, not used to living with very small children but used to lots of grandchildren of all ages visit ting.

Has met several rescue dogs and was a well behaved gentleman with them all - more interested in his walk than anything else:-)

Clean in the house, never been destructive when left, loves his walks but hasn't been out much recently. Travels well, loves a nice hot
bath:-)

Vaccinated and ID Chipped, healthy, bouncy little fellow, looking for a new home.

Enquiries to:

rescue@endangereddogs.com

Buster is still looking for his forever home.

He has now been castrated, is fully vaccinated and ID chipped.

Buster was taught to chase a laser beam by his previous owner and now finds chasing reflections something to do when bored! He can be easily diverted when you're with him but needs help when left alone-lots of interesting toys to keep him busy.

Buster has been learning all about playing with another dog and how it is done (he lived alone previously) will play for about 10minutes before he gets fed up and wants to lie out and recover :-)

Buster has been reserved and is off to his new home shortly.

I think the new owners will be very pleased as he is a great little dog and has come on leaps and bounds over the past few weeks, as if his whole world just lit up.

He is even choosing himself (his biggest step, wow, wow, wow) to play with his toys rather than a light reflection, so we are all really pleased with the little man, his has a great new life ahead of him.

Thank you for emails received on him, much appreciated.

Update from Buster's new owners:

Buster

Dear EDDR,

Well we could not be happier with him, he is adorable, a big cuddly teddy bear. He's great off the lead, we took him to the beach yesterday, he seem to think that if he bit the waves then they would stop coming, after about the 12th attempt he decided he was not winning.

I took him to watch Bob play football Saturday and that was when I first took the plunge to let him off, he was great, not bothered by other dogs and just constantly chased a stick you did have to have two mind as he is not great at bringing the stick back!

I think Buster can feel honoured as he now has a leather sofa all to himself and he sleeps with us, so not bad seeing as he has only been a short time.

I made a roast dinner yesterday and Bob made me put up a roast dinner for the dog, he loved every bit and Bob spent the rest of the night asking Buster if he enjoyed his dinner....

The children love him, especially the grandchildren they came back to take him out, we took him to Portchester Castle for a run and then bought him Sausage and Chips.

The only thing I would change is his wind, I have never know a dog to let rip as often as him. Any suggestions on food would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, thank you so much for reserving him for us he is the best thing to come in our lives and we love him dearly all ready. I have already started taking pictures of him, once I have a nice one of him and the kids I will send it on to you.

Kind Regards

Lisa x.

An update from the owners of Buster - Buster's owner Lisa writes:

Quick update on Buster, he is the best thing to ever happen to us and he is loved by everyone that meets him. He is such a special dog and I can never thank you enough for keeping him for us. I was just wondering if you had anymore short legged staffs that need re-homing as we are looking for a pal for Buster. We have been looking after a friends 10 week staff pup and they get on so well that we feel it would do Buster good to have a companion.

Kind Regards
Lisa

Lots of dogs always looking for homes - consider giving a home to a rescue dog.

This is the story of 'Romper'

Romper was featured on our rehoming page and his story read:

'Romper’ the Neapolitan Mastiff is desperate for a rescue or foster home to take him in and help him out!!!He is approx. 8years of age and has been living in a scrap yard for the past couple years. He is not wanted as they say he is ‘useless at his job’, he wanders around the yard which is very busy in a built up area .I
have just been to view him to take his photo and assess his condition, when I arrived I could hear a dog wimpering, he was boxed in a small area behind the tyres, he was let out by an employee who has been doing his best as he feels sorry for the dog. Romper is desperate and very unhappy, he needs the help of a rescue or individual who specialises in his breed and has the facilities to treat him-he has a skin complaint with secondary infection and is constantly scratching himself raw. He was too distressed with the itching to continue any kind of assessment. Tonight will be another ordeal for Romper.

Uncomfortable, lonely with his skin crawling. What he would give for a bath & medication to calm his skin and a warm comfy bed, with someone who wants him.

If you can help Romper - Please telephone or email urgently:

rescue@endangereddogs.com

Rompers is now under the care of EDDR - Romper's first 24 hours with us:

Romper left the scrap yard yesterday at 5pm.

He slowly came out of his small enclosure and we stood with him for a while and fed him some fried chicken (prepared earlier after he ignored the doggie treats the day before).

There were plenty of spectators, they looked surprised as the gently giant slowly walked amongst the three of us, out towards the entrance and onto the pavement, he didn't even look back which seemed kind of fitting. He made an attempt to jump up into the van but had some help from behind :-)Romper first stop was down to the vets, he was examined and very well behaved considering the distress he was in. The good news is that he doesn't have 'cherry eye' and his eye sight seems pretty good, his ears were dirty but further down the ear canal was okay, no mites, his heart is sound, the vet had a good feel of his internal organs and couldn't detect any abnormalities, Romper seemed lame on his front leg, the vet checked the joint and it was intact.

Some skin scrapes were taken and we are waiting on the diagnosis, there is a lot of hair loss and secondary infection, he weighs only 55kg and has a lot of muscle wastage.

We left with Malaseb shampoo, ear cleaner, worming tablets, stronghold & antibiotics. Later Romper had a bath, he stood still whilst all the grime, dead skin etc was washed away, he likes having his neck massaged and seemed a lot less itchy afterwards. He drank a big fresh bowl of water and ate all his dinner, went into his bed and dropped his head down on a pillow, ten minutes later you could hear him snoring, he slept right through the night. He has been wormed today, out twice, he likes to walk very slowly off leash, he also likes the grass. Today he responds to his name, trots as best as he can to you when you call him, he is also very fond of Cornish pasties, the lady who works in the local café brought up a bag of goodies for him this lunch time and the guy in the local garage saw him and just brought over a pillow, for Romper's bed he said. It will take a lot of work and dedication to restore him. Thanks to Tail End Of Hampton (Pet Shop) for toys and treats, also thanks to everyone else who sent messages, makes you feel a bit less alone with it all.

Romper Update: Just a quick note to let you know that Romper the gentle giant rescued from the scrap yard has settled in very well. Romper has been running around in the fields (there is a lot more grass where he is compared to the scrap yard where he came from) this gets him ready for his afternoon nap, he must have been shocked to see all the open fields and he must have felt great to roll around in the grass. He is still enjoying his four meals a day which have been building him up, with the added bonus of some banana yogurt which is now a favourite. The vet has advised further rehab and a continued slow build up prior to dental surgery.

Romper Update:
17/6.
Romper has continued to improve over the past week. He has lots of new hair growth all over his back, all the old scabs have almost gone-apart from the tail, his pressure points are still rough and sore from lying on concrete, mentally he is a lot happier, the change in his personality was amazing, his spirits lifted and he started to enjoy life.He continued to gain weight and his appetite just kept increasing each day, he loves chicken and had a whole one each day (which was just one meal), roasted or steamed, he also had leg of lamb roasted, didn't like his veggies, but we kept steaming carrots, greens, brown rice and garlic and he began to enjoy them if they were mixed in with his chicken! He has muscle mass returning to his back legs, when we first picked him up he could manage a slow walk around, last night he walked up the road and into the top field and back, about a mile, he actually trots along and does a big hefty spin around in excitement when the food bowl is on its way down. Knows his name, when he wants to go one direction you just tend to go with him, he walks slow but seems to cover a lot of ground with a long stride. He had BBQ last night also, likes to stand with his head resting on the table watching as the food arrives, he can really pack it away!It was nice to see his big tail wagging, he is full of character, he stands still for his bath, lies out on his duvet, head on pillow having a snooze with a big full tummy, all smelling nice. Rolled over for the first time-to have his belly rubbed and fell asleep. Romper just likes to be around someone, he is large but not at all clumsy, sensitive, very gentle and always at your side. He will truly be an amazing friend.

Thank you for your messages of support and help for him.

After lots of TLC Romper moved on to a rescue home out of London where there is lots of space for him, he continued to make great progress, all of his hair eventually returned and he reached a good weight with muscle too!

Wanted - help for two Rottweilers subject to control order:

Two adult Rottweilers escaped from their homes during the middle of the night, the owner was asleep and unaware they were out. During the excitement and confusion of being on 'the loose' they had a running fight with a local stray dog and someone was accidentally bitten by one of the dogs during the fracas as they tried to intervene and separate the dogs. The incident was reported and a case under the DDA came before the Magistrates Court. The Court heard evidence from a canine behaviourist who described how the two dogs were not a danger to the public and in are need of basic training. The Court decided against a destruction order and instead imposed a control order - both dogs now have to be muzzled and leashed in public. The Court also agreed to both dogs being re-allocated and homes are now needed. They have one week left in which to find a suitable placement, if you are experienced with the breed and feel you could help one or both dogs, please contact EDDR for further details, we will place you in contact with the Dog warden who will be able to give you further details.
EDDR
Email: rescue@endangereddogs.com

Good News for the 2 Rottweilers:A local dog trainer, who has experience with the breed has agreed to take on both dogs, they are leaving the kennels and on their way to him:-)

Lots of TLC, training and socialisation on the agenda, Dog Warden said she very happy as this guy has good experience and both dogs will be safe with him.

Thanks for your replies.

‘Jess’

A good home was needed for ‘Jess’ this is her story:She is currently living with her owners, but with three young children and another dog already in residence her mum cannot cope any longer and give her the time and attention she deserves.Jess loves people, enjoys lots of walks and her toys to have plenty of fun with.Jess is healthy, vaccinated and wormed. She is well behaved indoors and at 10mths is still quite puppy like in nature, active & quick to learn. She has been very good around the children, aged 3yrs, 18mths and one month.
Jess is not socialised with cats, she is okay around some dogs when out but not all – further socialisation would be of benefit.Jess is looking for an owner who has experience with Staffords (rather than a first time dog owner) & has the time and love to give her. Please Contact:rescue@endangereddogs.com All homes strictly vetted by rescue

Adoption subject to terms & conditions as laid down by agreement

Jess is no longer in need of a new home. Following great discussions, moves have been made to enable her present owners to keep Jess with them.
It is hoped that the problems will be solved with some help as Jess will be very happy to be able to stay in the home she has always known and loves.

Thank you to everyone who offered support and a home to her, if you did offer Jess a home - please consider another rescue dog.

Buster - Staffordshire Bull Terrier male

BusterThis typical Stafford who loves people here is his story:

Came from a two male household, was attacked by the other older resident dog, has recovered from his injury, due to this bad experience he would be best suited to a home where he is the only dog.

Further details - please contact:

Update - 'Buster' - Has been adopted and is now in his new home.

Rest In Peace

A deaf Stafford with District Dog Rescue in Warrington, Cheshire, is desperately in need of a safe place to go.

He came in as a stray so his background is not known, has been in kennels for 4wks, vaccinated, approx.1-2yrs, friendly with people, not socialised with cats. Would be best suited to a home where he is the only dog and can receive one to one support and training.

Special Needs - He is Deaf

Due to severe space restrictions, time ran out for him this morning (Tuesday 10/8), a lot of rescue dogs have been moved around today giving his a few more days to find somewhere, he has a few days time extension.

Do you know anyone that will foster or kennel him, EDDR will pay all expenses.

RIPVery Sad News:The unwanted deaf Stafford, was put to sleep today. He was transported to the vets and his life ended despite the fact that several other rescue dogs had been moved in a last minute effort to make a space to save him whilst an Appeal for a kennel space or foster home was stepped up. The rescue thought he was okay until the weekend and only just found out that it was too late and all efforts at the 11th hour had been in vain. Several offers of kennel spaces and foster homes have poured in this afternoon, he would have been saved but it has come too late for him.He left as he had always been, deaf, in a silent world and alone. RIP Thank you for offering to help him.

Rest in peace little man.

Neapolitan Mastiff - another sad story

A young (about 2yrs) male Neapolitan Mastiff was abandoned and left to wander a woods in Gloucestershire.

The local Dog Warden has spent several weeks trying to catch him, but he was very frightened and shy of people. They left food/water out for him so he at least had something to eat, despite the best efforts no one could reach him.
The poor boy has been hit by a train, he was missed by another which would have killed him outright, the Dog Warden has managed to find him and taken him today to the Blue Cross in Bristol. They are operating now to try and save him, his leg/femur is broken.
If he pulls through, he will need somewhere and someone experienced to look after him in about a weeks time, if you can help or offer any support to him:
Update:
Very sad news.

The stray Neo, name not known, has died.
Out on his own, he had managed to survive fending for himself, losing condition and weight each day, he survived being hit by a train, the veterinary hospital saved his leg but the blow to his body was just too much, he died from internal injuries despite the best of efforts to save him.
The youngster, shy, frightened but brave, will suffer no more in this world - rest in peace gentle giant.

‘Butch’
Staffordshire Bull Terrier, 5yrs, castrated male

This is the story of Butch and how he came to be rehomed by us:

Butch was living with his family while he was looking for a new home. With two children and two other dogs, his mum could no longer cope and give him the time he deserved.

Thanks to Steve Halifax who passed on the details of Butch to a lovely family who offered him a home. Thank
you also to Tracie at Scottish SBT Rescue for organising a home check for us, within a few hours of us asking, much appreciated!EDDR picked him up on Friday, he had a nice bath and some roast turkey, settled down for the night on the bed and was then transported to Birmingham on the Saturday to meet his new owners from Scotland.

He was very exited and happy and everyone made a big fuss of him.He was driven off with his new lead and collar on looking like a little king on the back seat, licking the drivers ears from behind. Update from Butch's new family soon. The photo's above are Butch in his new home, his new mummy wrote the following:

Butch has settled in great.

He sleeps great in his new bed in the living room.

The pictures i've sent are off him after a long walk. We've taken him a long walk every night and a short one in the morning.

He comes over to you and kisses you all the time, he is so affectionate. We feel lucky to have him. He is very obedient and is very trustworthy. I hope we have many happy years with him.

I will keep you updated on his progress.

Shirley

Buster the Bull Terrier

The following is the story of Buster the Bullie, his advert appeared on our pages:

Buster the Bull Terrier saved from certain death and currently in a foster home is in urgent need of dental surgery.

Buster was examined by the vet after a foul smelling odour was noticed coming from his mouth.

He is currently on antibiotics prior to surgery and is due to undergo his operation in a weeks time.

The cost of surgery is estimated at approximately £211 (documentation from veterinary practice available).

If you can spare a couple of pounds to go directly towards the cost of his operation please send a donation to us, marked:

EDDR (Buster)

Please make out your Chq/postal order to 'Endangered Dogs Defence & Rescue' and give your name/address
for us to acknowledge, a receipt will be sent - ALL donations are truly gratefully received.

You can also make a donation via PayPal using our email address: mail@endangereddogs.co.uk

Buster was signed over to the EDDR by the Local Authority-Bolton.

He had originally been picked up by the Dog Warden and placed in the stray dog pound after wandering the streets.

Buster was later falsely claimed by someone from the kennels, the police investigated, in the meantime he disappeared from the person who falsely claimed him, ended back up on the streets and then into further trouble following a street brawl with another dog.

There was a police investigation and legal proceedings were expected (DDA), but all concerned didn't want Buster to come to any harm, only to be responsibly owned. Following lengthy discussions and with Buster signed over to a rescue, all proceedings have been dropped and Buster is now a free dog!

Due to an appeal on the internet, a foster home was found and volunteers transported Buster to his new safe home with Jenny and her dedicated family.

Buster has endured several homes, a long stay in kennels, the threat of court proceedings and an uncertain future, his operation is now the last big hurdle he faces, he will be receiving lots of TLC post surgery and once fully recovered will be able to find that special permanent home of his own. He has a been a super dog in the home, full of character and so much deserving a chance to be happy with a responsible owner to take good care of him.

Buster update: Veterinary cost total £223.42

Buster had four incisors and 3 molars extracted a descale and clean up. He is very sore and has been given painkillers. Currently he is wrapped up on his bed. We have sent him love from everyone.
The cost of Buster's operation was £185.48, the EDDR was granted a discount as Buster is a rescue dog. The initial examination and medication was £37.94 giving a total to date of £223.42.

EDDR has received 13 cheques which total £206 - Thank You!

It was a lovely surprise to collect the mail from the PO Box today and open the letters and cards all wishing Buster well and a full recovery, including a nice photo of a white bullie lying upside down on his chair!

EDDR will acknowledge each letter and send a receipt also.
Once veterinary expenses covered any extra cash will go to Buster to buy him food, his new collar and leash, worming tablets. Anything left after this will be returned to the donator or with their permission given to EDDR to help another rescue dog - 'Ted' (photos available) an unhappy, lonely bull breed cross who has been in kennels for over 3 months as he can't find a home, has no friends and not much hope. He needs vaccination, ID chipping and castration to begin with and to give him more of a chance. Many thanks to Buster's friends out there!

Latest Update:Buster the Bull Terrier is no longer in need of a home.He has found his own very special family and is about to be adopted shortly - by his foster family, they have fallen in love with him and him with
them:-)

Thank you to everyone who supported him and sent donations to give him his operation he so badly needed.

‘Annie’
GSD Approx. 8yrs.

Annie

Annie really deserved a best friend.

Annie was seized by authorities along with 13 other dogs. Her owner was prosecuted and found guilty under the Protection of Animals Act 1911.

Annie was in kennels for 2 years whilst the legal proceedings were ongoing, when the case ended (the legal Appeal was dropped last minute) 11 of the dogs were pts at the kennels, one dog was returned (legal implications), one re- homed, which left Annie, but who would want to become involved and take on an ageing dog?

EDDR offered to take Annie and following lengthy negotiations she was given to us.

Annie's first big time out was on the 200 mile journey to us, she arrived very quiet, shy, reserved and not interested in people (or anything), she would not look at you, had no interest in toys and generally seemed very sad and giving up on life due to the length of time she had been incarcerated.

That was some weeks ago, Annie now loves to play with toys, runs and jumps on the end of her leash, loves to go for walks with other dogs, looks you straight in the eye and waits for a cuddle, likes to be brushed, enjoys her food, she is very clean and not destructive, vaccinated, chipped and wormed. Good with cats, has been introduced and lived with several for 3 weeks.

Annie is also had some fun clicker training while she has been with EDDR but we don't know who was training who!
Annie is looking for an owner who is kind, patient and willing to spend some time with her.

Great News - Annie has been rehomed! Thank you to everyone who sent messages of support, we have an update from her new owner, please see below.

Annie Update – from her new owner

Sunday 1st of February will always be remembered as "the day I fell in love with Annie".

When you left on Sunday morning Annie (understandably) was a little stressed. She paced back and forth between the front door and the back gate - and was panting quite a lot. I spent the rest of the day talking to her and giving her cuddles which seemed to calm her. I also gave her "doggie treats" - which turned out to be a bad move! (More on that later!) Annie ate all her evening meal happily and slept next to my bed peacefully all night. I was a little concerned that she might want to wee in the night - so I took her down stairs and let her out into the garden - she came back in happily and went back to bed. Monday - 7.30am. Annie went out into the garden and sniffed out the territory for a while and then "whoops!" she was challenged by the giant Pickles cat! This totally freaked her and she made a rapid exit. We then went for a mile walk along a quiet lane - Annie walked well (likes to stay on my left side) and puzzled at everything we saw.
On return she had her breakfast - or some of it - and then spent the next hour in the garden with "the runs" - poor Annie - I had overdosed her on Doggie Treats - she kept drinking water so I was confident that she would not become dehydrated. Following this Annie became noticeably brighter -lots of eye contact and stayed at my side for the rest of the day.

During the afternoon we had three small walks round the green just to get used to sites and sounds which went well. She was very interested in watching me prepare the evening meal and happily ate hers - she had another peaceful nights sleep next to my bed.
Tuesday - A major leap in confidence, trust and socialisation. The first walk of the day involved meeting the dustcart and three local dogs all greeted with interest. Breakfast went down well - followed by meeting the postman at the front door - meeting the painter and decorator working on the back of the house and two visitors. Annie was shy at first, staying close to my side but soon took it all in her stride. I then had to go shopping - as I have not yet introduced Annie to the car I put her in the sitting room with her bed, water and chewy.

I was away for an hour (fretting all the time!!!) and on my return was given an enthusiastic welcome. I had bought Annie a giant rawhide bone which she whisked off to the garden - and then I heard her bark!!! - The first sound she had made since arriving! On investigation I found she was barking at the bone! - what a breakthrough - she played bone chasing like a three year old - jumping-pouncing -woofing and generally having fun - the most rewarding thing was to see Annie’s beautiful bushy tail straight up in the air -wagging madly!

Three more short walks round the green - meeting neighbours and two dogs. We continued in play mode for the rest of the day - happily ate the evening meal and slept peacefully all night. Today
(Wednesday) - 2 mile walk across the fields - meeting all the early walkers - Annie was very polite to all of them! At the time of writing she is fast asleep at my feet - only opening an eye when one of the cats passes!

I have changed her treats and am only offering them very occasionally! You were so right Amanda - Annie truly deserves a loving and safe home of her own - I dearly hope I will be privileged enough to provide it for her.
With grateful thanks - and a woof from Annie

Jan - Annie's new mum

I would like to express my complete admiration for your website- your dedication to your beliefs and your very efficient communication responses. Having searched through the numerous dog rescue sites for many weeks I was so fortunate in finding Endangered Dogs - and in doing so - found the love of my life - Annie. This was brought about by the caring and efficient work undertaken by Amanda - who has my everlasting thanks for taking so much time to find the happy home for Annie. Annie and I are already a team - and we have many more adventures to explore! Thank you for saving Annie - and bringing her to me. xxx

Annie sends you all a big lick - and a special kiss for Amanda and Eugene.

'Floyd'
American Bulldog male

Floyd was unable to stay with his owners due a change in their circumstances.

He is a purebred American Bulldog, vaccinated and neutered.

Floyd was originally brought up in a farm environment where he was well socialised with dogs, cats & horses.

He was very attached to his previous owner and needed his new owners to spend some time with him to help him readjust and form new bonds.

Update on Floyd the American Bulldog homed recently:

Floyd the American Bulldog has been settling in very well at his new home with his two new owners and his new companions Tara the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Ming the cat.

When Floyd first arrived at his new home he was keen to have fun with Tara but decided to keep away from Ming who kept a watchful eye on him. When he did get close enough Ming had a swipe from under the table and Floyd moved so fast he hit his head on the table and nearly took the top off. Tara is happy with her new friend and now willing to share her collection of toys. The two of them have been enjoying many long walks through the local countryside and forest.

Floyd first made himself at home by swinging and slinging his slobber all about the lounge. Later he decided to go investigate the garden and run at speed to the back door throwing his 99lbs through the cat flap, his head just made it, that was the door tested. Floyd will be off to visit the McDonalds or Burger King drive thru, he likes to pull up and see his food come out a hole in the wall.

Owner John said:

"Over the last couple of days he has come out of his shell a bit more and has stopped following me everywhere i go and when my mum's cooking he is sat by Tara's side in the kitchen scrounging. I think mum has now fallen for him as well.
He is at present learning Sit/Stay which with food or a toy is doing very well, a quicker learner than i expected. Adopting him has made us all very happy"

New Home found for Mindy the American Pit Bull

Mindy the registered American Pit Bull Terrier has gone to a new home!

Following an exhaustive appeal across the country, Mindy aged 12yrs, was saved at the 11th hour.

Owner Mrs Hull had been unable to care for her dog any longer due to pressure and restrictions imposed by
her landlord, following her divorce she had moved to accommodation where dogs are not permitted and was working all day leaving Mindy alone for long periods of time, 'it just wasn't working out' she said.

Mindy had been taken to the local vets last Friday to be put to sleep, but the surgery didn't want to end the life of such a nice dog and asked her owner to hold on for just one more weekend whilst they made enquiries,

EDDR was contacted on Friday evening, but it seemed unlikely a home would be found so soon. An extensive appeal was launched through the Internet and dog owners united to help save 12 year old Mindy the American Pit Bull Terrier.

EDDR provided transport (thank you Tony Foreman who completed over 400 miles) and Mindy was taken to her new home in Lincolnshire on Sunday where she has been settling down with new friends. The three dogs, Kim, Dante & Rosie and the three cats, Charlie, Micky & Bambi have all agreed to share their home with the latest arrival!

New keeper Zoe, who has had lots of experience with dogs, will have Mindy checked over at her vets this week and the registration documents will be updated shortly.

Zoe said: "We went for a walk earlier. She's ok on the lead but got a few funny looks because she had a muzzle. Mindy has settled in so much that she stayed in bed till nearly mid-day and when I say in bed - my daughter covered her with the duvet this morning before school and she never moved. Again now this evening she is up on the bed fast asleep after her walk this afternoon, she seems contented".

Thank you to everyone who contacted us to offer their help and support.

‘DUKE’
American Bulldog Male

Was in need of a new friend for life and has now found one!

Duke could no longer be cared for by his original owner and was signed over to the Local Authority Dog Warden.

He was in council run kennels for some time, very unhappy and stressed due to his change in environment when the EDDR was contacted and asked to help.

Duke had been looking for a home with someone experienced to handle a large sized dog or familiar with the breed – the American Bulldog.

Duke thrives on people contact. He loves to be around people of all ages and loves attention. He is a very big softie at heart.

He has not been destructive when kept indoors and has mixed with several other rescue dogs, once introduced he enjoys games and loves balls and ‘kong’ toys.

Lots of people have contacted us to ask how Duke the rescue American Bulldog has been getting along in his new home.

Well, the latest news is that he's a very happy chap and has settled in extremely well!
"Here's Duke in his bed with his 'twin' next to him and below is Duke with his greatest admirer Georgia who loves him to bits."

"Duke's been an amazing dog with so much character we sometimes think he's half human as he actually tries to talk to us, tells us when its time for bed, time for his walk, time to play, time to go home when we're out etc and sulks when i've to go to work."

All The Best

These puppies are have now found special homes of their own and are all settling in well you can read more on them below.

Molly is a stray Greyhound type bitch was found wandering in the road late one evening on the 29th September in Hanwell (West London). She was very thin, dehydrated, frightened, infested with fleas, without collar or any form of ID. Extensive enquiries were made but no one ever came forward.

She is approx. 3-4 years, loves people and likes nothing better than to sit on your lap being fussed, she craves human contact. She is now much healthier and happier and is the size of a small Greyhound and could be 3/4 Greyhound, 1/4 Whippet or a Lurcher type. Smooth coat. She, (called Molly) has been kept indoors and is almost house trained (apart from the odd accident). Molly will give chase to rabbits, cats etc, she is not hyper-active and greatly enjoys being inside with lots of human contact.

A week after Molly was found she unexpectedly gave birth to 7 pups. The father of the litter is unknown. All are were healthy and each have found a special home fortunately mummy Molly has now found her forever home and she has sent us a letter below.

Dear Friends,

I am writing to you from the comfort of my lovely new home!

I 'm so happy I just can't believe that my new mum is so nice and cares for me so much. I
was waiting for a new home for a very long time, the lovely rescue lady kept telling me that there would be someone special for me out there but to be honest I was beginning to give up. Then, I heard someone say that there were so many other dogs just like me out there that my chances were not looking good. I could be overlooked for a long time they said. But, my friends at the rescue never gave up and neither did I. Then one day I got very lucky. My new home has a garden, there is soft grass to lie on in the sun and I love snoozing out in the afternoons. Over the Easter we had lots of grandchildren all come to visit. I was of course on my best behaviour and everyone talked about me and kept giving me treats and toys to play with, it was a great day and there is lots of fun things to do here. I follow my new mum everywhere and we enjoy our walks together. Mum said there is a place called the beach and it's not far from here. There you can go and as far as you can see there is moving water and lots of sand to jump and dig in - that's my next place to visit and I can't wait!Thank you to everyone who helped me, I'm off now to my nice new bed which mum has just made up for the night, tonight will be full of good dreams of happy days to come.Love from Molly.

ps, If you are waiting in a kennel like I was - don't give up. There really are good people out there just like the nice ones who are looking after you now.

Molly

Greyhound Cross Puppies

'Blue'

Hi there, this is Blue and he is our Greyhound/Lurcher puppy. We adopted him from the EDDR when he was 12 weeks old and we haven’t looked back!He will eat absolutely anything and loves to play (when he is awake!). His favourite toy was Larry the Lion (a furry stuffed toy) but I’m afraid that Larry is now beyond repair and has had to be replaced by another furry thing. We all go to training classes once a week, which Blue thoroughly enjoys. This gives him a chance to learn some new tricks and to play with lots of other dogs (and people!). He is doing very well and is keen to perform.Blue is not my first rescue dog, but he is our first puppy. We are even thinking about adopting another one! It is so rewarding to give any dog a second chance. Please consider adopting a rescue dog, they are often there through no fault of their own and they will love you for it forever!

Sam

To Molly,

I just wanted to let you know that I have got a forever home. I am going to Sheffield tomorrow. My new mum has 2 Lurcher boys and is very nice. I am sad to leave my foster home as they have been really good but I need to go now and have a new life.

I hope you are well Molly. I will always remember you and my foster mum will keep an eye on k999 to see if you get a home too. Take care.

All my love, licks and tail wags...

Lara xxxxxxxxx

Dear Lara,

You are so very lucky in finding a new home, I was dumped in the road when I was about to have puppies and just left in the dark, starving and alive with fleas, I was scared and running looking for somewhere to hide, it was cold and wet.

A car went passed, but this one stopped and a lady followed me offering me food, I didn't want her to come close to me as I knew humans often hurt you and some want to even kill you, but I was so starving hungry I had to take a chance and come closer to her to take the food, she grabbed me and I thought it pointless to struggle, what more or worse could be done to me, there was no strength left in my bones to struggle and I just didn't care anymore.

I went with this lady and to my surprise I was fed nice food and gulped down the water I was given. She spoke gently to me and I was taken to a nice warm bed for the night. In the days that followed people bathed me, and the fleas which had been feeding on me for so long disappeared, it was a lovely feeling not to be constantly bitten.

I did have my pups and all of us were taken care off, the pups all got lovely homes but no one ever came for me, luckily I wasn't in a kennel but indoors, but still I waited for a home of my own.

The lady who first took me in still comes everyday to feed and walk me, I also get lots of toys to play with and cuddles which I like the best, she told me that 'there is a home for every dog' so I know that my special person is out there somewhere, we just have to keep searching to find them, I'm not giving up.

Your foster mum must be nice like my mum, I hope you like you new home in Sheffield and you two new Lurcher boy friends.

good luck from Molly

Update from Molly's owners - Xmas:

Molly renamed Misty at home relaxing in her favourite place-the sofa.

Memories of wandering the streets starving hungry, cold and frightened are all but a distance memory now!

Jude the German Shepherd

Jude is a German Shepherd puppy bitch and she came to us aged 6 months.

Purebred Shepherd (KC registered), fully vaccinated, wormed etc. Micro-chipped and healthy.

Caught in middle of a divorce/separation, unable to stay with her former owner. A beautiful Shepherd she was looking for a kind loving owner.

She had not been introduced to cats and unfortunately the majority of homes offered had cats. Playful, a bit shy, she walked lovely on a leash. Her previous owners had taught her some commands including sit and paw on command. Youngster, once settled in will make a fantastic companion, full of potential and lots of love to give.

EDDR made the condition on rehoming Jude that she was not to be used for breeding purposes.

She has now found her perfect home.
