Scottish Government Consultation - views are requested on the use of electronic training equipment on animals. Comments should be sent in by 30th November 2007, they will be analysed and assessed. Subsequently Scottish Ministers will decide on how to proceed and your comments will assist the Scottish Executive prepare and draft legislation, should this prove necessary, which would be issued for a further more detailed consultation. EDDR behavioual advisor Julie Pett has worked closely with us for several years and has set up SAVED Dogs - a team of behaviourists and trainers are offering free help and advice for dogs which have been imprisoned and later returned to their responsible owners via court order - eg, as registered dogs. Owners sometimes need help when a pet dog is returned from a kennel environment, and advice is now available from a dedicated team.
The Kennel Club’s Safe and Sound Scheme hosted a seminar in order to raise awareness of child safety around dogs through its educational programme. Sept '07
Dublin City Council Dog Ban - eleven breeds of dog including the Bull Terrier, Bull Mastiff, German Shepherd, Rottweiler and Stafford have been banned for all council properties, please sign the petition against the dog ban. August 2007

The Tenth Anniversary of the Dangerous Dogs Act Amendment -
Ten years ago this month marks the introduction of the Dangerous Dogs Act (Amendment) which became law on the 8th June 1997. Ten years on and we take a look at where we are now with the breed specific component of the law. June 2007
Kennel Club Hosts Parliamentary Seminar -a 'dangerous dogs' seminar and reception "to protect both the safety of the public and the welfare of dogs" took place at the House of Commons. It was sponsored by Marsha Singh MP and arranged by the KC.

Animal Welfare Bill becomes law - The Animal Welfare Bill received Royal Assent on 8th November 2006, having completed all stages through Parliament. It is now known as the Animal Welfare Act 2006

Greyhound Awareness Week - 23rd May to 31st May. gives an opportunity for all those concerned about the plight of greyhounds to educate the public about the mass slaughter of dogs caused by the greyhound racing industry. Street stalls, demos outside greyhound tracks, betting shop pickets and other events will be taking place throughout the country. Anyone who would like to organise or take part in an event in their local area, please contact Greyhound Action for leaflets, posters, petition forms etc.
