EDDR Conditions of Adoption on PDF - PDF

EDDR Conditions of Adoption:

The Endangered Dogs Defence & Rescue Ltd (EDDR) strives to match rescue dogs with suitable homes for life, to help ensure a successful re-homing; all prospective homes are checked and visited prior to re-homing.

Adoption is subject to written agreement, the dog is put into your care on the understanding that the following conditions are understood, agreed and adhered to.  Failure to reasonably comply gives the EDDR the right to remove the animal from your care without interference.

(1) If for any reason and at any time, you are unable to keep the said dog, EDDR must be notified immediately and it must be returned to us.  Under no circumstance may the dog be passed into other hands, or destroyed, without the permission of the Endangered Dogs Defence & Rescue Ltd, unless, in a veterinary surgeon's opinion such a course is required on medical grounds, in which case a certificate must be obtained and the EDDR notified without delay.

(2) The dog must wear a strong collar, the use of a ‘choke’ chain is not permitted. An Identity Disc showing the adopters name, address and telephone number will need to be securely attached to the dog’s collar. At no time shall the dog be allowed out on its own or not be under the supervision of a competent adult.

(3) The adopted dog will have been micro chipped prior to adoption. You are expected to keep the dog’s annual vaccinations, worming and de-flea treatments up to date as advised by your veterinary surgeon.

(4) The dog must be housed indoors or in accommodation approved by the EDDR.

(5) It is your responsibility to make sure that the dog is properly cared for and qualified treatment given in the case of illness or accident.

(6) If the dog is lost or stolen the Endangered Dogs Defence & Rescue Ltd, the Local Authority Dog Warden and the Police should be informed immediately.

(7) No dog or bitch is to be used for breeding purposes under any circumstances.  EDDR endeavours to neuter all dogs prior to re-homing. If you have adopted a puppy you will need to arrange neutering, with your veterinary surgeon, once old enough-this will be checked on and is your responsibility as a responsible dog owner and in order to comply with our conditions of adoption.

(8) All adopted puppies and adults where specified will need to attend training classes, this will be of great benefit to the future happiness of your rescue dog and also a lot of fun of you and your family. The class/training school will need to be approved by EDDR to help ensure the adopted dog is only exposed to kind, positive methods of training which do not use physical punishment nor harsh methods.

(9) EDDR supplies you with six weeks free insurance cover from adoption; after this period you are advised to arrange your own third party and veterinary cover.

(10) The adopted dog is passed to you in good faith. EDDR does not give any warranty expressed or implied as to the health and fitness of the dog and cannot be held responsible for any future illness.

(11) You are expected to act in a responsible manner when out with your dog and to have consideration for others, this includes picking up and properly disposing of your dog’s faeces when deposited in public places or private places which the public have access to, as well as keeping your own garden clean.

(12) EDDR confirms that we have to the best of our ability and knowledge informed you of the history of the dog and the reason, if known, why it came into our care and control. Descriptions of breed/crossbreed are given to the best of our knowledge and opinion at the time of adoption.

(13) Any donation received by us is not taken as payment for the adopted dog; all donations are gratefully received and go towards helping other dogs.

(14) EDDR cannot be held liable for any nuisance, breach of laws, injury to any persons or damage to property which may be caused by the dog after being accepted into the possession of the adopter; whilst under your care, full responsibility lies with you.

(15) An authorised person acting on behalf of the Endangered Dogs Defence & Rescue Ltd must be allowed to visit your home at a convenient time to ensure that the dog is happy, settled and that the terms and conditions of adoption are being reasonably adhered to.
