BSL - Worldwide Dog Bans Information

BSL

Different countries around the world have implemented outright bans or restrictions on specific breeds, types and/or cross breeds of dog, laws which are known as BSL.

 

UK BSL Contained within the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991: Section One of the law refers to four types of dog. For information relating to prohibited dogs in the UK - please visit our section on the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

Italy to REPEAL BSL - Italy moves to scrap dangerous dogs list and introduce new dog law placing responsibility with the owner, not the breed of dog. April 2009

Netherlands to REPEAL BSL - Major break through as common sense prevails and Holland lifts its ‘pit bull’ ban after fifteen years! June 2008

Dublin City Council Dog Ban - eleven breeds of dog including the Bull Terrier, Bull Mastiff, German Shepherd, Rottweiler and Stafford have been banned for all council properties, please sign the petition against the dog ban. EDDR Update August 2007
