Life with American Bulldog Alfie :

Alfie

We turned up at the rescue centre thinking we'd rehome a small sized dog that could jump in our laps whilst we watched TV.  From the moment I saw Alfie in the kennel looking up at us with his big sad brown eyes I was hooked. We went home, read up about his breed and what we could expect and then following all the checks and interviews we were able to go back to pick him up!

Alfie is fantastic fun.  He’s too big to curl up in our laps whilst we're watching TV but that doesn't stop him trying! He likes nothing more than to sleep with his head in your lap, snoring away.

He is great big silly clown and I’m sure he thinks his mission in life is to make us laugh.AlfieSnoozing Like most ABs he rarely barks and in fact we think he has invented a new way of communicating with next door’s Afghan hound.  He sticks his nose under the fence and snorts to say hello - he sounds more like a horse than a dog!

Alfie isn’t small but I don't think he's worked that out yet - when he's bouncing around in the park he needs to be reminded to ‘apply the brakes’  otherwise he’ll run into your knees and then look up with a big silly grin on his face as if to say ‘did I do good’?

He's been with us a while now and I can't imagine a life without the big fella to keep us entertained.

Thanks for all your help and advice - Emma
